Friday Funday newsflash: Bush can’t speak
I was actually going to go with “Oktoberfest reveller stuck in chimney for 12 hours” (thank you Reuters), but claustrophobic shenanigans are no laughing matter, people, no matter how much beer was sunk.
Head first in chimney and everything – that’s MRI-scan-unfunny. The poor dude was just drunk – it could happen to anyone. Remember, don’t take the roof route home after imbibing heavily.
The American President making a grammatical gaffe however? That’s good enough for the Friday Funday spot…
He managed to come out with the timeless sentence, “Childrens do learn,” on Wednesday, which is startling in its originality, as well as its simplicity.
Behold:
According to the Reuters story: “During his first presidential campaign, Bush — who promised to be the ‘education president’– once asked: ‘Is our children learning?’”
I like to think these fun little slip-ups are really part of a complex piece of performance art wherein Dubs demonstrates how far poor grammar can get you: right to the very top! I for one is going to change my wayz. Let’s hope he never does, though.
Now for a look back at golden Bush gaffes gone by:
3) Straight in at 3, the relatively minor offence of treason:
“She gave me a look that only a mother could give a child.” Quite: The “sit down and shut up” one.
2) After the Minneapolis Bridge collapse in August this year:
Bridge falls down/holding up. Hm.
1) Aaaaand for the number 1 top spot, oh yes, it’s my absolute fave, not least because Bush beat ALL the news agencies to this little bulletin:
“Well Mandela’s dead. Because… Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas!”
I was wondering where that army of Mandelas had got to. Glad that Bush clarified things for me: Nelson’s dead, Saddam’s killing from beyond the grave, the sun also rises.
Yeah, I get the whole metaphor thing, but really, it is too late in the day for him to be “discovering” it.
