Off to interview the makers of this film, which is about how we’re running out of the cheap, straightforward-to-extract oil that underpins industrialised societies.
Went to the screening last week, and it’s not often you get one of the directors standing up at the start to say…
“It’s a film that promises to be a bit of a downer.” To see why, read this excellent review.
It’s an issues-based documentary that has implications for world politics, kind of like An Inconvenient Truth, only there’s little us mere mortals can do to avert the oil crash by turning off a light or two; also, fewer laughs.
Don’t let that put you off though. It’s better to know about the depressing situation outlined in this film, than to ignore it and blunder into the situation anyway… isn’t it?
Either that, or we’ll end up like the last bit of the film, riding around in horses and carriages. I’m going to miss the number 38 bendy bus…
