Neighbours to be revamped - are you still watching?
Neighbours is 22 years old. And changes are afoot…

I had been an avid viewer since 1987, the year after it got to the BBC. I was 4. Alas, though, a viewer no more. I gave up watching it after uni, and haven’t been able to get back into it. Perhaps because I haven’t really seen it since 2005 and, most likely, none of the cast from then are still in it. Although I hear Karl Kenedy is. Oh, Dr Karl…
Aaanyway, here’s the Neighbours news from Media Guardian:
- New logo!
- New theme music! (like that’s never happened before)
- “The return of a old favourites such as Libby Kennedy” - um, sure!
- Hi-Def filming! I like how there’s a Toadie pic by the article, as though seeing him in hi-def would be a good thing… the picture editor’s caption tells us that he/she is having a little laugh…
There will be a return to “heart-wrenching family drama”:
Not quite heart-wrenching enough? Remember when Julie fell off the balcony and died? And when it took Hannah about half an hour of hanging with the body of her (great?)-gran to realise that Helen had died? Oh god and when Harold returned from the dead, minus his memory, and then Madge died? So, bring on the heart-wrenching deaths. Fancy a bit of a trip down memory lane? Here are some vids.
Deaths, naturellement:
Weddings of course, and none ever outdid the first one on this video:
This is when it first came to the Beeb in 1986, how times have changed:
“An everyday serial of Australian folk”! Cute.
Also: this (”a fun-loving yet morbidly obese lawyer who lives in the House of Trouser, a self-sufficient Marxist commune”)
Oh, ps:

Another crisis of faith Harold? Actually, Ol’ Wobbly Jowls is the only one who can’t be mocked. Here’s to another 22 years…
