O.J. roundup: “Simpson wanted armed men for raid”; If I Did It released
Here’s the PA report:
OJ Simpson wanted armed men with him when he confronted two sports memorabilia dealers, according to a co-defendant who agreed to plead guilty and testify against the former American football star.
“OJ said, ‘Hey, just bring some firearms’,” Walter Alexander told police, according to a transcript of his tape-recorded statement.
More after the jump:
Alexander told Las Vegas police after his arrest on September 15 that he and another man arrived with guns at Simpson’s request, then headed with him into a casino hotel room to retrieve collectibles that Simpson said belonged to him.
Simpson told Alexander the guns were just for show, “so that these people know that, you know, we’re here for business”, Alexander quoted Simpson as saying. Simpson’s lawyer, Yale Galanter, said Simpson’s position remained that there were no guns brought to the room and he did not tell anyone to bring them.
Hm. Well that’s all background noise really – the real story is O.J.’s book, brought to you in conjunction with the Goldman family and Pablo F Fenjves: If I Did It, available to buy on Amazon! Here’s a sneak peek.
What of the reviews though??
Amazon.co.uk currently hosts just the one review, from a Jennifer Bateman:
The more money the Goldman’s rake in from this the better!! Every cent they raise is a slap in the face of this despicable killer. It was the money the killer was after and now he doesn’t get a dime and he has exposed himself for nothing!…how beautiful is that! Get on board and buy the book it’s simply a confession from a killer in writing!

Also, if you missed reading Tino Georgiou’s masterpiece–The Fates, go and read it. While I’m near the end, I’m reading it at a rapid pace because it’s so addictive.
Unable to stay focused on the book in hand, and seeming to not have read it yet, Ms Bateman nonetheless gives it a massive 5 stars. Her assertion that “those people who can’t or won’t read this are so out of touch with life it’s ridiculous,” is strongly-worded, but a little harsh on those who “can’t” read the book, such as the illiterate, who really just need a viewing of O.J. Simpson: If I Did It, Here’s How It Happened.

The Times’ Rod Liddle comprehensively trashes it here.
Fingers crossed for some more positive reviews!
